As a teacher with a passion for making music and sharing this passion with students, I try to focus on more than just lessons and a yearly recital. It is my hope that each student will experience joy through music-making in an environment of encouragement as we discover the possibilities together.
A few of the student performing events of past years have included a Mozart marathon in celebration of his 250th birthday, a ragtime festival, concerts featuring student compositions, ensemble concerts, fundraising for a cause concerts, Bach’s lunch thematic concerts, services of worship, field trip concerts, working in conjunction with the Iowa Diary Project combining history and piano, over ninety senior recitals, piano coffeehouses, collaborating with professional pianists to bring programs to Iowa Mennonite School, and many other “outside the box” playing opportunities.
